Matthew 8:13
"Then to the centurion Jesus said, Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed. And the servant boy was restored to health at that very moment."

Slobodan & Ljiljana KrstevskiThis is a word that Jesus Christ spoke to the centurion. The centurion came to Him and said, "Lord, my servant boy is lying at the house paralyzed and distressed with intense pains." So in verse 7 Jesus said that he would come to him and restore him to health again. But in verse 8 we read, "But the centurion replied to Him, Lord, I am not worthy or fit to have You come under my roof; but only speak the word; and my servant boy will be cured." It's amazing how much faith this centurion had. He didn't need Jesus to come and touch his servant for the boy to be healed. He believed that the only thing that he needed was for Jesus to speak the word for healing to come. Jesus was amazed at this. In verse 10c He says, "I have not found so much faith as this with anyone, even in Israel."

There is such a great truth to learn from this story. Based on this centurion's faith, trust, and confidence in the words of Jesus, he was going to receive what he wanted. Jesus said in verse 13, "It shall be done for you as you have believed." In other words, your faith will cause the things that you believe for to become a reality in your life. If you believe that the words of Jesus will come to pass in your life, then you will receive whatever you believe.

Think back to the woman with the issue of blood. She said to herself that if she could only touch the hem of Jesus' garment, then she would be healed. Now at the time, there were many people touching Jesus. But the moment that the woman touched Jesus she became healed. Faith increases by the Word of God. So we should always read the Word of God and listen to the Word of God as it's being preached so that our faith will grow. Through that growing faith, God will start bringing things about in our lives. If you believe that you will excel in school, work, relationships, and money, then you will. That faith will live deep within your heart. Then your mouth will start speaking, out of the fullness of your heart, words of faith. Then that speaking will motivate you to act based on what you say and what you believe. Then that action will change any circumstance in your life.

After Jesus, the greatest friend that you could ever have is yourself. After Satan, the greatest enemy that you could ever have is yourself as well. If you start having feelings of defeat, then you will stay defeated because you will think it, speak it, and act on it. But if you start believing that you will be victorious, then victory will come because you will begin to speak whatever your heart believes, and as you speak words of victory and success, then you will begin to act on those words. Based on your confession and your action, you will then become victorious. You can achieve anything in life as long as you believe it in your heart and confess it with your mouth. Once you do those things, then your actions need to line up with your words, and your outcome will be whatever you believed.

Jesus says here that it will be done for you, as you have believed. But your outcome in life cannot exceed your level of faith. You will always achieve what you believe. If you just believe that you'll barely get by in life, then that's all you will achieve. But if you believe you can achieve higher, then you will achieve higher. You have a tremendous influence on your life circumstances. As I said, after Jesus your greatest friend is yourself because your thoughts, your words, and your actions will determine your future. So believe the Word of God. Trust that the words of Jesus are true and will come to pass in your life.

That's why reading the Word of God is so important. We need to read it in order to strengthen our faith. As your faith grows, then you will be able to achieve greater things in life. Mark 11:23-24 says, "Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! And does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him. For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it]." So the things we believe in our hearts and speak with our mouths will come to pass. So maybe we can all ask ourselves, "What do I believe about my future?" Whatever it is that you believe will be done for you. So today, let's renew our minds with the Word of God and believe the words of Jesus.
