WHICH GROUND ARE YOU?

Date: May 6

Category: Sow and Reap

Mark 3:35
"For whoever does the things God wills is My brother and sister and mother!"

Slobodan & Ljiljana KrstevskiIt's interesting to notice here that Jesus is close to the people who do the will of God. In the following chapter, Jesus teaches the crowd about sowing the Word of God into different types of soils (different types of people). As the sower was sowing seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground and those seeds sprang up quickly, but the sun burned them so they didn't grow strong. Some seeds fell among thorns, and these thorns came and choked the life out of the seeds. Finally, some seeds fell on good soil and brought thirty fold, sixty fold, and even a hundred fold as much grain.

The seed is the Word of God. The sower of the seed is the minister who preaches the Word of God. All these different types of soils represent all the different types of people who hear the Word of God, either in churches, on television, on the radio, etc. There are four types of soils. The first type is the pathway. The pathway represents the person who listens to the Word of God and immediately accepts it, but Satan comes and steals the Word from his heart. Therefore, he doesn't grow as a believer. The second type of soil is the rocky ground, which represents the person who receives the Word of God with joy, but there is no real foundation. Therefore when troubles come or persecution arises, they immediately stumble and give up. The third type of soil is the ground with thorns, and that represents the people who listen to the Word of God, but get swayed away by the cares of this life. Therefore, they don't stay committed to God. But the fourth type of soil is the good soil, which represents the person who listens to the Word of God, accepts it, and bears fruit – 30, 60, and 100 fold.

Now which soil are you? Are you the person who listens to the Word and just forgets it because you let Satan steal it from your heart? Are you the person who listens and accepts the Word, but quits as soon as difficulties arise? Are you the person who listens to the Word but become distracted by the cares and worries of this life? Or are you the person who listens to the Word of God, accepts the Word of God, applies the Word of God, and reaps fruit from that Word? It's better to be the fourth type of soil than any other type. So examine your heart. Figure out what type of soil you are. Make sure your heart is ready to receive the Word of God and apply it into your life. That way you can reap the benefits of obeying God's Word.
