BUILDING A HOUSE: BEING STRONG & WISE

Date: January 16

Category: Prosperity

Proverbs 24:3-7
"Through skillful and godly Wisdom is a house (a life, a home, a family) built, and by understanding it is established [on a sound and good foundation], and by knowledge shall its chambers [of every area] be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. A wise man is strong and is better than a strong man, and a man of knowledge increases and strengthens his power; for by wise counsel you can wage your war, and in an abundance of counselors there is victory and safety."

Slobodan & Ljiljana KrstevskiThese verses teach us about skillful and godly wisdom as well as understanding and knowledge. It says here that someone with skillful and godly wisdom builds a house, a life, a home, and a family for himself. So if you want to know whether or not you're acting wisely, check your actions. Are you building a house, a life, a home, and a family or are you tearing them down? Most people often spend their money and never build a house of their own. That's not godly wisdom.

It also says that you will fill its chambers with knowledge and all precious and pleasant riches [verse 4]. That means that you are going to buy quality things for yourself like a quality house, first of all, in a good location and then quality furniture to fill your house. Then it says in verse 5,"A wise man is strong and is better than a strong man, and a man of knowledge increases and strengthens his power." So not only will you build a house and fill it with all kinds of treasures, but you will also become strong by doing so.

You will also increase in power. Verse 6 says, "For by wise counsel you can wage your war, and in an abundance of counselors there is victory and safety." Who are some of your counselors? First of all, God, through His Word, is your primary counselor. That's why we need to read the Bible. Secondly, if you're married, your spouse is your next counselor. Thirdly, if you have children, your children are your counselors. Fourthly, your parents are your counselors. Following that would be any other friends. But the order of your counselors should be as I have indicated – God, your spouse, your children, and your parents. So, if you don't have a spouse or children, then your parents are your counselors after God. If your parents are deceased, then you can always ask yourself, "How would my parents respond to this situation?" You can predict some of the possible answers your parents would give you if they were still alive. Based on that, you can then make a decision.

So do you want to be strong and wise? Then you need to work on building your house. You need to bring in all kinds of treasures into your home. When you do, you're going to increase in knowledge. When you listen to counsel, you're going to gain strength. There's no other way to do this. People want all these results, but they don't always want to work in order to achieve them.

Start with the Word of God. Then start with skillful and godly wisdom, which is really building your own home and family. After that, work on filling your home with all kinds of good treasures and pleasant riches.

If you want to be strong and increase in knowledge, then you're going to have progress. You're going to have to ask yourself, "How can I make better decisions in life?" You should always try to find a way to become better. Then you have to listen to advice. First, you're going to listen to God. Then you're going to listen to your spouse, then your children, and if you don't have a spouse or children, then you are going to listen to your parents. All other friends come after that.
