Category: Sow and Reap

Galatians 6:7c, 8
"For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap. For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life."

Slobodan & Ljiljana KrstevskiThere is a great truth that we can learn here. Whatever you sow is what you will reap! But it says here in verse 8 that if we sow into our flesh, which is our lower nature and personal sensuality then we will reap from our flesh. But nothing positive can come from the flesh. It says here that only decay, ruin and destruction come from the flesh. So if all we do is tend to the needs of our flesh and do whatever our bodies want us to do, then we're going to reap destruction. But if we sow into the spirit, then we will reap from the Spirit of God, and that is eternal life. So we can see here that it's much better to sow into the spirit. We are primarily spirit-beings. We live in our bodies, but we are actually spirit-beings. So the spirit is what we need to sow into if we want to reap eternal life.

Some people say that those who are successful in life became successful overnight. But when you really look at those people's lives, you can see that they became successful because they have labored very hard, day in and day out. Sometimes they did that for years at a time without anyone noticing before they received any success. Success is really accumulative in nature. It comes from having a clear goal and then working towards obtaining that goal.

Success doesn't come when someone else works and you just sit back and do nothing. If that is the case, then that other person is going to succeed and you'll still be sitting. Success only comes when you take the initiative and work towards receiving it. If you develop the habit of taking the initiative, not waiting to be told, but doing what needs to be done, then you will succeed in any venture that you embark on.

That's why it is so important to understand that the environment in which we live or the conditions of our lives are really just the result of whatever we have thought, said, and done in our lives. Whatever we have thought, said, and done in our lives are all seeds that eventually brought about a fruit, which is our current life situation. Some seeds take awhile to ripen and some other seeds ripen quicker. For example, vegetables take a few weeks to grow. Fruit sometimes takes a few years to grow. But regardless of how long it takes, every seed always brings back some kind of result.

Our life situation is a direct result of our thoughts, words, and deeds. So if you don't like your situation, whether it is at work, at school, at home, in our relationships, etc, then it's not the time to blame others or even ourselves. It's the time to start examining what seeds you have been sowing, and start changing those seeds. You have to take the initiative to change your own life situation, and you do that by changing your thoughts, words, and actions. When the seed changes, the fruit will change as well.

Let's say you want a promotion at your job. First you have to believe that you are going to get a promotion, so start thinking that you are going to get it. Then you have to start speaking it. Say to yourself, "I'm going to get a promotion!" But thinking it and speaking it won't bring you that promotion. They'll motivate you, but they won't actually bring you the promotion. Now you have to put those thoughts and words into DELIBERATE ACTION and do something to receive that promotion. You have to do more than what's expected of you. Don't wait to be asked. Instead, take the initiative and do what you need to do to stand out from the other workers. That deliberate action will catch the attention of your employer and bring you a promotion. Those three things (your thoughts, words, and deliberate actions) are the seeds that will bring you the fruit that you desire, which in this case is your promotion.

It's so important to remember those three aspects: your thoughts, words, and your deeds. Your thoughts and your words will motivate you to deliberate action. Those three things in combination together are the seeds that will bring you the fruit that you are trying to receive. So today, take a moment to think about your life situation. Are you happy with the way your life is? Is there anything you would like to see changed? Well if there is, examine the seeds you've been planting. Then change those seeds in accordance to the kind of result you'd like to achieve. When you do that, you will be successful!
