Psalm 145:15-16
"The eyes of all wait for You [looking, watching, and expecting] and You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand and satisfy every living thing with favor."

Slobodan & Ljiljana KrstevskiThis is such a powerful passage! It states a great truth! God is the source of everything. It says here in verse 15, "The eyes of all wait for You [looking, watching, and expecting] and You give them their food in due season." Every living thing on this earth, both people and animals, all wait for God. We all look for, watch for, and are expecting God to give us our food in due season. The word, "food" in this passage can be substituted with all our necessities. All our necessities shall be met in due season. What are our necessities? Well our necessities are food, clothing, and shelter. God is the source of all those things in our lives. He may use different channels to bless us, but really He is the true source. That's why we all wait for Him.

But how will God supply our needs for us? How will God supply our necessities? He supplies our needs through our own work. In 2 Thessalonians 3:10 we read, "For while we were yet with you, we gave you this rule and charge: If anyone will not work, neither let him eat." If we don't work, will God supply our needs? No, of course not. God doesn't bless laziness. In other words, if we aren't willing to work then we don't even deserve to eat.

Some people think that God will give them wealth and prosperity and they don't have to do anything for it. But that's not true. In Deuteronomy 8:18 we read, "But you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day." God doesn't give you wealth. God gives you the power to get wealth. You are the one who creates wealth for yourself. Nobody else will create it for you.

God gives us that power so that we will go and put our hands to work and start building wealth. But what is the purpose of building wealth? Verse 18b says, "So that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day." So the wealth that God allows us to create is to be used for the extension of the Kingdom of God.

So if we connect these 3 verses together (Psalm 145:15, 2 Thessalonians 3:10, and Deuteronomy 8:18) then we can see that our provision from the Lord will come as a result of our own work. If you cry out to God saying, "Lord, I'm hungry. Please give me something to eat," will a chicken suddenly pop up on your dinner table? Of course not! You have to go to work and earn money. Then you have to go to the store and buy the chicken. Then you have to come home and prepare the chicken. And then you'll have a chicken on your dinner table. Your needs being met is a result of God blessing your efforts, but you must put your hands to work. If you just sit there and wait for God to feed you, then you'll lose a lot of weight!

Some people even expect to become successful without work. They think that other people will go to work and they'll become successful. But success comes before work only in the dictionary, not in real life. In real life, work is first and success follows. This is true in your studies, at your job, in your relationships, with your finances, and in all areas of your life. Success comes after work! Once we begin working, then God will open His hand and satisfy us with favor (verse 16). But we have to always remember to work hard and put forth our best effort, using the power that God has already given us. As we put that power into action, then we will create wealth!
