Deuteronomy 33:25b
"And as your day, so shall your strength, your rest and security, be."

Slobodan & Ljiljana KrstevskiThis brief portion of Scripture has been a great source of inspiration and encouragement to me. Normally when we wake up in the morning after sleeping enough hours, we should feel well rested. But there were many times that I would wake up and still feel tired and weak. As I would look at all my tasks for the day, I would become very discouraged. Then one day, a godly man quoted this Scripture to me. "As your day, so shall your strength, your rest and security, be." That word assured me that every time I wake up in the morning, regardless of how strong I feel, that is enough strength for all the tasks that are ahead of me for that day.

If God wanted me to do more than I have to do, then He would have given me more strength. But since He gave me a certain amount of strength, that amount of strength is sufficient enough to help me successfully complete all the tasks ahead of me for that particular day. In other words, I learned from this passage that God had already given me enough energy every day to do everything I need to do for that day.

But if we complain about not having enough strength to accomplish everything, that will only de-energize us even more. Also, when we speak negatively about our day, then we are only setting ourselves up for failure. So instead of doing that, we should start every morning by thanking God for the strength that He has given us. In Philippians 4:13 we read, "I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency]." That's the attitude we should have when we approach our days.

But why should we have such a positive attitude? Well in Deuteronomy 33:26a we read, "There is none like God." God is all-sufficient and He is able to empower us with all the strength we need for the responsibilities ahead of us. So instead of focussing on our tasks, we are to shift our focus towards God and trust in His divine ability. Then in Deuteronomy 33:27a we read, "The eternal God is your refuge and dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms." A refuge is a place of protection. God is our protection.

There is a poem entitled, "Footprints." This poem is about someone who dreamed he was walking on the beach with the Lord. Then he saw scenes of every life event flash before him. He noticed that there were two sets of footprints in the sand. One belonged to him and the other belonged to the Lord. Then when the last scene of his life finished, he noticed that during the hardest times of his life, there was only one set of footprints. So he asked God why He left him during his hardest days. Then the Lord replied that during those difficult moments in his life when he only saw one set of footprints, it was then that the Lord was carrying him.

God's arms are everlasting. Not only did God give us sufficient strength for all our day's work, but He will also carry us when we need to be carried. So as you start your day today, remember that God is here for you. He has given you all the strength you need for today. In Deuteronomy 33:29a we read, "Happy are you, O Israel, and blessing is yours! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, the Shield of your help, the Sword that exalts you!" That should be your confession every morning. God has already empowered you with all the strength you need. He will be walking with you, and He will even carry you through the day. All you need to do is ask God for wisdom to use the energy and time that He has given you wisely.
