WHAT IS FAITH?

"Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]."
What is faith? In order to explain what faith is, we need to go to the Word of God. Let's explore to see what the Word of God says about faith. In the Gospel of John, Jesus said that faith means to believe in the work of God [John 10:38]. In Galatians, Paul said that faith finds its expression in love [Galatians 5:6]. And the book of Hebrews also explains what faith is. Here we read that faith is the inner knowledge that God's promises will be fulfilled. It is knowledge that is deep within your heart and spirit. Inner knowledge is when you know that you know something will happen. That's what faith is. Faith is the assurance that the things we hope for will happen. So in order to have what God has promised, you just have to receive it by faith.
Faith is also a deep conviction of the unseen reality of God. Behind everything that we see, there is a divine reality, and that is God's presence. God is at work all around us. Faith is the assurance that He is there even though we can't see Him with our natural eyes. God is a spirit. When we talk to Him, we have to understand that we are talking to a spirit. It's the same thing with people. When you talk to people, you aren't talking to their physical bodies. You are talking to their spirits, the consciousness of that person, or the mind of that person. Let's say, for example, you encounter somebody who is sick, somebody who has cancer. When you pray, you pray against the spirit that is attacking that person. You speak to the spirit of cancer and command it to go in Jesus name. You command that evil spirit to leave that person's body. So we have to believe in the divine reality around us.
So when you have faith, you have that inner knowledge. You know deep within your heart that God is keeping and fulfilling His promises. And you have a deep conviction, knowing that God is more real than anything you can see in the natural. Having that faith, you can now pray and know that God will answer because He has promised in His Word that He will answer.
Here in the eleventh chapter of the book of Hebrews, we see the many things that men and women of God have achieved because of their great faith. Even when the circumstances didn't look favorable, they kept holding on to God, and God gave them victory. It's by your faith that you will be able to move mountains. Your mountains can be many things. It can be a broken relationship. It can be money problems. It can be health problems. You have to address the spiritual reason for those physical realities. The physical reality of our lives is a direct result of our spiritual reality. So have faith in God. Have that inner knowledge that God is real, and He is going to keep and perform all of His promises.
