"And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known. I will make darkness into light before them and make uneven places into a plain. These things I have determined to do [for them]; and I will not leave them forsaken."
God will make darkness into light. Sometimes you may feel like you're in a dark spot. You may not know what to do, what steps to take, what decisions to make, or what direction to follow. You may lack self-confidence or you may feel dark inside. That's where God comes in. God wants to bring light into all those dark spots that you experience.
We all experience some dark spots in life. While I was growing up, my father was a drunkard, a gambler, and a womanizer. My parents separated several times, and I was often given to family and friends for weeks at a time. That created a dark spot in my heart. My childhood dark spot stayed with me even as I grew up. For the first ten years of my Christian life, I still felt a void in my heart, not knowing that those thoughts of self-pity were from the enemy. The enemy wanted to hold me back by keeping me stuck in my dark spot.
When I was twenty-five years old, I was in a church setting and we were singing a song. I recall some of the lyrics being, ‘As in Christ God loved you, so ye love one another.' Suddenly, I sensed the Holy Spirit speaking to my heart. He was telling me that because He loves and accepts me, I too should love and accept myself. God is so much wiser and greater than I am, and if He loves me, then I should love myself. When I came to that realization, that darkness suddenly became light.
When you are in a dark room and someone turns on the light, that darkness disappears. It's not there anymore. The same thing happens when you take the light of the Word of God and apply it into your dark situations. The darkness in your life becomes light. So regardless of what you may have experienced in the past, what anyone may have said about you, or even what you may have said about yourself, turn to the Word of God. Turn on that light and listen to what God says to you. He says that He loves you with an everlasting love. He says you can come to Him and He will in no way cast you out. He says that you'll always be victorious with Him.
The Word of God is your light. It says in Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." So use the Word of God as your guide. Bring the Word into your dark spots and God will begin making all that darkness into light. Let that light determine what choices you should make in life and how you should feel about yourself. That light will remove all the darkness in your life because as it says in Isaiah 42:16, "I will make darkness into light…"
