HIS WORDS ARE TRUTH

2 Samuel 7:28-29
"And now, O Lord God, You are God, and Your words are truth, and You have promised this good thing to Your servant. Therefore now let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You; for You, O Lord God, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let [his] house be blessed forever."
We know that God promised David that He was going to continue establishing his dynasty. In other words, David's kingship was going to continue even after his death through his sons. So in verse 25 he says, "Now, O Lord God, confirm forever the word You have given as to Your servant and his house; and do as You have said."
David is basically saying to God, "You promised me something. So do it Lord." It's okay for us to speak the same thing. God is moved when we speak what He promises. If God promised us something (and there are many promises in the Word of God), then we should speak those promises back to Him.
In verse 28a, David says, "And now, O Lord God, You are God and Your words are truth…" God doesn't speak lies. God doesn't speak something and not do it. God is going to do what He promised because His words are truth. The rest of verse 28 says, "..and You have promised this good thing to Your servant." God promised David good things just like He has promised us.
Then we read that in verse 29, "Therefore now let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You; for You, O Lord God, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let [his] house be blessed forever." It is God who pronounces blessing upon our homes. That is one of the reasons why you and I need to get into the Word of God. When we do, we will hear the promises of God; we will hear the blessings that God speaks about. Being blessed means being complete. It means having nothing missing and nothing lacking in our lives. We all want to be blessed by God.
That's why you and I need to knock at the door of God every day of our lives. Let God speak His truth into our hearts and let it be planted there and bring fruit for His glory. Every single word that you and I say, every single deed that you and I do, and every single thought that you and I think are the seeds in our lives. And those seeds will produce results.
If, for example, you look at your life and find that there are things you don't like, you can't say that it's because God hasn't been good to you. That's a wrong conclusion. God is very good to us. But our decision of what seed we plant will determine what fruit we reap. So if we don't like the way our life is, lets change the seed. Change the things we speak, think, and do. Make them inline with the Word of God. That's why it's important to read the Word.
Once you line up your life to the Word of God, you are going to be blessed because God is the One who pronounces blessing. So when you read His Word, you will read about all the blessings that God pronounces upon your life. God has promised us many good things, and when we read His Word, we are reminded of what those promises are.
Most parents who make promises to their children keep their promises. There are some parents that don't, but most parents do. So if we, as earthly parents, keep our promises to our children and do what's good for our children, how much more will our Heavenly Father keep His promises of blessing for us? God cannot lie. So what God says will happen. But we need to read His Word to know what He says.
We need to read the Word in order to speak what God speaks, to think how God thinks, and to do what God wants us to do. That's when God's blessing will come upon us. A good question to always ask ourselves is: "What Would Jesus Do?" Then we need to do what Jesus would do.
